It's been so hot

Lately, the heat is coming back and my girl started coughing again. I noticed that she is very sensitive to weather change these days.

When daddy is not around, this little princess will want to sleep with me. Not that I don't welcome that but she kicks, snores, grinds her teeth (bruxism) really often throughout the night. On top of all her little habits, I still have to deal with her cough last night.

Thus I was like a zoombie this morning, even though I took an antihistamine pill the night before. It obviously didn't knock me out enough to ensure that I sleep well. LOLz.

Talking about bruxism, I seriously wonder whether this is a cure to this. Our dentist thinks that it is stress but I had already notice that my little one grinds her teeth at a very young age! So if anyone out there knows of some remedy, please let me know.

Anyway, after my breakfast and the morning papers, I managed to dump everything into the ice cream machine to churn out a batch of Blueberry ice cream before I took a nap.

Woke up in time for lunch, did some work with my little one before we head off to pick the older one up from his Taekwondo Grading test. Getting my girl to study is really a breeze. She don't argue, she don't procasinate. She just diligently complete that chaper before she moves. In fact, I can trust her to do it alone.

For my son, I am still wondering what is his interest? Though I know he is very much into sports but I am still clueless about what he wants in life. For one thing, I am happy that at least, he didn't give up doing this sport. Will be nice to see him get his black belt eventually.

Had our tea time in a kitchen store where I found a new friend. It is always nice to have new friend. She was really friendly and even proposed having coffee time together.

Went for our grocery shopping and completed all our task for the day. The only regrets was that we didn't get to cycle as planned. If not, this Sunday would have been really productive.

Another new week to look forward to because daddy is coming home on Friday.

  1. Actually, I had rather enjoyed the weather this last week... it has been somewhat clouded and breezy... But nevertheless, still great weather for ice cream... I just bought a box of Hagen Daas mini chocolate bars... :) Yours look fruity and refreshing!

  2. I was told I grind my teeth too, much to my surprise at the age of 21. No one told me before that :p

All 3 kids of mine fell sick... falling like dominoes, one by one.
Now that the youngest is getting better, the eldest came back with a fever.. and the cycle goes all over again.

  3. Your ice cream looks very delicious and yummy. Oh yes, I wish to tell you how blessed you are to live a life of a tai tai with a helper and can take afternoon and shopping with no worries of money. You are so blessed and so many working mom would like to trade places with you to stay home and be with the kids. You are so blessed. Likewise, everyday when I wake up, I give thanks to God for blessing me to be in the US and I dont have to work so hard like in Singapore, so stressful. Theresa

  4. Shirley @ Kokken69, I guess it is the humidity. I used to love Hagen Daas till I now made my own ice cream. hehehe

wendyywy @ Table for 2, I do too but not as bad as my little one. After her braces, I need to consider really seriously getting her a mouth guard.

When my kids were younger, it was the same too. One sick after another. I remembered when I was young too. Same pattern. One caught mumps the all gang get it.

Guess we just have to hang on till they become stronger.

Theresa, actually the ironic part of life. When I was working, I thought staying home will be awesome but after I had the chance to do so, I think it is not that rosy anymore.

I do feel blessed that I can make this choice. And I pray that I am a good mother to groom my kids to be responsible and compassionate human beings.

I was solely handling the household by myself till I had an accident three years ago that resulted in a slipped disc.

Had my fair share of helper's problem till I hired this last one and she had been a tremendous help unlike the past two. So she is really helping me instead of adding more problems for me.

If you asked my hubby, I am not someone who shops unless needed. Most days, I enjoy staying home. In fact, I hate to go to the mall. Last weekend was those rare occassion for a little get away for my helper as well as for myself.

Seriously, I doubt my life is like those tai tai at all. I don't go for weekly massage, spa or facial treatment. I don't have manicured nails too or going for never ending holidays. hahahaha

But I am happy that I have got a healthy family.

Just praying for wisdom to be a good mother and strength to see them through their teens years and that is all I asked for. :)

  5. Hi

My little boy now at 5 yrs of age is also kicking, snoring and grinding his teeth a lot while he sleeps, and this is commonly experienced (especially I share my bed with him). I have not had anyone to share this with until I see your blog. I wonder if there's a disorder somehow? I am unsure how to verify this. Have you tried seeking professional advice?

Btw, I chanced upon your blog once last week, and I thought this is really good (all your sharing about your life, and also recipes)!

    Thanks for sharing.

  7. From your blog, I really enjoyed reading it as you are a very interesting person and you are very honest in sharing your blog and it is especially helpful to those many parents out there who have teenage problems with their kids. Many bloggers will definitely agreed with me that you are a very good mother and also a very good wife.
You have made great sacrifice to stay home to guide them and on the positive side, you are very blessed as many working mothers wish to stay home to be with their young kids but need to help to bring in the bacon. Also, not many husbands are supportive of their wives losing their financial independence and contribution to the house mortages, household expenses etc etc. Hence, be always happy and thankful that you have a supportive husband who do not expect you to contribute financially and also being so caring to engage a helper for you. You are so blessed.Always praise the Lord for this blessing. Theresa

  9. Thanks for dropping by Doris. Your kid too? I brought her to the dentist and he told me it is due to stress. From the internet, I also read about that but since she started this really young, I seriously doubted it. The only way is to get mouth guard for them. Put it on when they sleep but according to my dentist, he told me to wait till my kid has full set of permanent teeth. So I am now waiting. :)

Theresa, it wasn't easy for me initially to become a stay home mom too. I too love my financial independence. It took me a good three years to adjust. Losing one income also meant more sacrifices. We were able to adjust our living expectation accordingly so on a whole we make do with what we have and we are thankful of it.

Yes, I do agree with you that I am blessed that my hubby is able to shoulder on the responsibility of being a sole bread winner. With this 19 years of marriage, I am also happy to say that he makes great effort to be a good one too.

Thanks Shu-Yin for dropping by. I didn't get your email. Perhaps you can channel it to mythoughtsmyblog@yahoo.com.sg.

  10. Hi Su Yin, I just realised that you were from Penang. I doubt the brand that I am using is available there. Should you come over to Singapore, give me a buzz. I direct you to the store. It is the only store in singapore that carrys that.

  11. Hi Edith

Thanks. I noted on the mouth guard too. Anyway, my boy is only growing his first permanent tooth (I am bringing him to extract his baby tooth this Sat), so it will take some time to have an almost full set then we start thinking about getting the mouth guard. He's been sick since last week and cannot eat nor drink. This week looked even worse than the last as he looked so frail and lips all dry and cracked. Wonder what could help him.

Can I also have the details of the ice-cream maker? I will email to you in a while using my Yahoo account.

    Thanks!
